The core of United Grinding-customer-oriented revolution

Machine connection is the key to networked industrial production, and the core of United Grinding-the customer-oriented revolution-makes these requirements a reality. “The digital future begins with CORE,” said United Grinding CEO Stephan Nell. The breakthrough new hardware and software architecture developed by group experts made its debut in North America at Evolution to Revolution, a grand event in the precision CNC grinding industry.
Industry 4.0 prompted United Grinding Group to increase investment in the digital future. The development of United Grinding’s CORE (Customer Oriented Revolution) began with an effort to ensure increased connectivity and lay the foundation for modern IIoT applications with intuitive operation. CORE has transformed this vision into reality in a revolutionary way. CORE opens up extraordinary possibilities for networking, controlling and monitoring production processes and optimizing their processes. This technology updates the user experience of the smartphone generation.
Intuitive operation is like a huge mobile device, and the 24-inch full HD multi-touch display marks the next generation of machine tools equipped with the new CORE technology. Through touch and sliding navigation and a customizable user interface, customers can arrange important functions and operations as they wish to be displayed on the smart phone’s home screen.
The new access system uses a personalized RFID chip that can automatically load individual user profiles to enhance security and simplify operator login/logout operations. In order to reduce complexity and prevent errors, users can only see relevant information.
The new CORE panel hardly uses any buttons. A prominent feed rate overlay rotary switch allows the operator to adjust the shaft with a simple turn. The unified use of CORE Panel by all United Grinding brands further simplifies machine operation and training. Anyone who can operate a United Grinding machine can operate all of these machines.
CORE: Not just an innovative control panel. Behind the eye-catching new control panel, machines equipped with the new CORE technology have many additional improvements. “There are also major innovations behind the machine housing,” emphasized Christoph Plüss, CTO of the United Grinding Group. CORE OS is a complete operating system installed on the high-performance industrial PC CORE IPC and used as the IIoT gateway and host of all software applications. CORE OS is also compatible with all CNC controllers used by United Grinding
New technologies provide plenty of opportunities for connectivity. All United Grinding Group machines using CORE technology can be networked with third-party systems, such as umati, through the implemented interface. This provides direct access to United Grinding Digital Solutions products on the machine-from remote services to service monitors and production monitors. For example, customers can directly request the support of the group customer service team on the CORE panel. The chat function ensures quick and easy support, and the integrated front camera even supports video calls.
The highest benchmark: user experience In the development process of CORE, the software and process leaders of all brands of the group have pooled their expertise to design an unparalleled software architecture. “Enhanced user experience has always been our top priority,” Plüss explained, emphasizing that the acronym CORE stands for Customer Oriented REvolution.
The company’s CEO Stephan Nell emphasized that CORE represents a huge leap in machine tool operating system and software architecture. “This means that our machines are ready for the digital future.” The CORE technology demonstrated at Evolution to Revolution is still under development. “It laid the foundation for our construction,” Plüss explained. “Development will continue. Due to the flexible modular structure of the software architecture, we will continue to add new functions and applications. We intend to use our group’s centralized software development capabilities to benefit our customers.”
United Grinding Group plans to motivate customers by regularly releasing new CORE software versions, which are actively shaping the digital future. In this way, the Group remains loyal to its ultimate goal, which is to make customers more successful.
